As a research fellow at the P3 Lab, Jae Yeon Kim works with Milan de Vries on the SNF Agora Institute's open-source civic data project called Mapping Modern Agora (MMA). The MMA project builds the big data infrastructure on civic and political organizing across the U.S. and its impacts on political and policy outcomes. As a computational social scientist, Kim's research agenda is interdisciplinary and lies at the intersection of social sciences and data science. Kim is interested in using big data and machine learning to study how marginalized groups learn about and participate in politics. He has published in political science and computational social science journals and developed or co-developed six research software.
